Visa Options for Investors
E-1 Visa: Treaty Traders
The E-1 nonimmigrant classification allows a national of a treaty country (see list) to be admitted to the U.S. solely to engage in international trade on his or her own behalf.
E-2 Visa: Treaty Investors
The E-2 nonimmigrant classification allows a national of a treaty country (see list) to be admitted to the U.S. when investing a substantial amount of capital in a U.S. business.
Permanent Residency for Investors
EB-5: Immigrant Investor Program
Under this program, entrepreneurs (and their spouses and unmarried children under 21) are eligible to apply for a green card (permanent residence) if they:
- Make the necessary investment in a commercial enterprise in the U.S.; and
- Plan to create or preserve 10 permanent full-time jobs for qualified U.S. workers.
